Closing Thoughts on Summer 2008:  It is hard to believe how fast the summer has gone by, but as we close in on the final week of our summer session we would like to share a couple of thoughts with all of you as we reflect on another great summer session at Stanford Water Polo Club. To begin, we would like to thank all our athletes for making this summer such an incredible season.  We are extremely fortunate to have such a great group of hard working and dedicated athletes, whose energy and enthusiasm has helped us become one of the best clubs in the country. We would also like to thank all of our parents for the assistance and support you have provided to our athletes and coaches. It is because of your support that our coaches and athletes are able to accomplish such great things.  We are very proud of the accomplishments that our various teams and athletes achieved throughout the course of the summer, and owe a great deal of thanks to our wonderful coaching staff for their tireless efforts.  We look forward to finishing off a great summer season and wish all of our high school athletes the very best as they transition into their fall high school seasons.  We are also very excited about the upcoming fall age group season at Stanford Water Polo Club, which will include participation in the Pacific Zone League.  Lastly, we want to wish the very best to our athletes moving on to college.  May all your experiences be as rich and enjoyable as those that you have had here at Stanford Water Polo Club.  Keep in touch, continue to dedicate yourself to being the best you can be, and enjoy the ride.......wherever it may take you.

Junior Polo Starts Today:  Our 2008 Summer Junior Polo program begins today at 5:45 pm at the Roble Pool on the campus of Stanford University.  It’s not to late to register new athletes, so please pass along this information to any families you may know that have boys ages 11 and younger who may be interested in giving water polo a try.

AG Practice Update 6/4:  Due to graduation on the campus of Sacred Heart Prep, this Wednesday’s AG 1 and AG 2 practices (6/4/08) will be held at the Avery Aquatics Center on the campus of Stanford University.  Practice will still be held at its regularly scheduled time of 5:30-7:30 pm.

Special Note To All AG 1 & AG 2 Parents:  This is a reminder to make sure athletes are picked up no later than 15 minutes after the conclusion of their workouts.  Our policy is to have at least one coach wait at the facility until all athletes have been picked up, and in the past couple of weeks we have had coaches that have had to wait 30-45 minutes for parents who are late picking up their kids.

If you still have questions regarding which group your son should be in, please email Coach Barnea. Email

STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (separate and optional add-on)
Stanford University Strength and Conditioning Coach Dan Ammon will once again be offering his strength and conditioning program to Stanford Club atheltes.  Dan currently trains both the Men’s and Women’s Water Polo Teams as well as working with varying Track and Field athletes at Stanford.  The program will be divided into two groups: 1) Beginner/Intermediate and 2) Advanced.
The Beginner/Intermediate group is designed for athletes with little to no weight room experience, who are looking to develop strength in a supervised and controlled atmosphere.  The Advanced group is designed for athletes who have a solid background in strength training and who wish to pursue a challenging conditioning program.  Both groups will work out three times a week at Stanford University, using the same facilities as current Stanford athletes.  More details on these programs will be available in the coming weeks.
