Speedo Cup Qualifying Teams Announced.

Congratulations to the following athletes who have been selected to represent our club at this year's Speedo Cup Qualifying Tournament.  Speedo Cup is one of the most prestigious age group tournaments played each year in the United States .  Held annually in St. Peters , MO , Speedo Cup brings the top U.S. water polo clubs from each zone around the country.  This year the tournament will be held from November 11th-14th.

The qualifying tournament will be held this Sunday, October 9, at UC Santa Cruz.  We have not received a schedule for this weekend's games, but we will email and post it as soon as it becomes available.  Only one team from each zone will receive an automatic entry into the tournament, therefore we must win the qualifier in order to guarantee our entry in Speedo Cup.  In the event that your son will be unavailable for this weekend's games, please email Coach Barnea at jonbarnea@stanfordwaterpolo.com, ASAP so that we can fill the open roster spot(s) with athletes that are on a short list of alternates.

Stanford Water Polo Club Parents and Athletes:

Parkas!!!

Our Club will be placing an order for parkas through TruWest next Monday, October 3.  The parkas we are ordering are the same high quality parkas which Speedo sells in their catalog and which many Olympic swimmers and water polo players wear.  They are water-proof, come down past the knees, and have a hood and two deep pockets to keep you and your valuables warm and dry.  We hope that many of our athletes order these sharp-looking team parkas.

Design:   Black Taslan on the outside and red fleece on the inside.  "STANFORD" will be in 3 inch, red block letters with white outline on the back.  The athlete's name will be embroidered on the left front as each person requests.

Price:   $150 payable to NCWPC

Sizing:   We will have sizes XXS, XS, S, M, L and XL for athletes to try on this Tuesday and Thursday at practice. (We recommend ordering a larger size so it can be worn for a few years.)  Please let your coach know at practice that you wish to be sized for a parka.

Deadline:   We will need everyone's order by Sunday, October 2.  (This includes size, name embroidery request and payment.)  Athletes can expect to receive their parkas in 4 to 6 weeks from the date of order, therefore we will be placing the order promptly on Monday morning, October 3.

If you have any further questions regarding the parka order, please email Dawn Vargas at stanfordwaterpoloclub@yahoo.com.

Beginners Games this Saturday:
The beginners will participate in their first of four games days, this Saturday 9/24.  The games will be held at Fremont Hills Country Club, 12889 Viscaino Pl , Los Altos Hills.  Game times will be 9:00 am and 10:00 am.  Please be at the pool 30 minutes prior to your first game for warm up.  There will be a snack bar for parents and athletes serving coffee, baked goods and juice.  Please remember, beginners will not have Sunday practice on weekends where they have games on Saturdays.  Have a great time guys!

Stanford Water Polo Club Parka Orders:
We are looking into making orders this fall for team parkas.  If there are enough interested families we will look to place an order sometime next week.  If you are interested in ordering a parka for your son please email stanfordwaterpoloclub@yahoo.com at your earliest convenience.
